1110 - Blog Content Audit and Remediation

    Goals

    • Turn the current blog audit into an executable remediation map for all published blog articles.
    • Remove or replace trust-damaging article content, including irrelevant external links, placeholder product links, and duplicated affiliate blocks.
    • Consolidate overlapping thin posts into fewer, stronger evergreen article surfaces.
    • Improve article body links so they are relevant, working, and placed in a logical editorial order.
    • Audit and remediate featured images, body images, and other article media for relevance, accessibility, and working URLs.

    Scope

    In Scope

    • Published Shopify blog article content under the current public blog surfaces.
    • Article-level keep, edit, merge, replace, delete, or unpublish decisions.
    • Article body copy, headings, featured images, body images, embedded media, body links, article SEO descriptions, and article-to-article/product/collection link placement.
    • Validation of article URLs, body link targets, and article media URLs after remediation.

    Out of Scope

    • Global blog index design, navigation, footer links, or non-article layout changes unless a content issue requires a narrow rendering fix.
    • Product, collection, catalog, Merchant, DNS, deployment, theme, or Shopify Admin mutations outside article content.
    • Broad visual redesign of the blog system.

    Baseline Findings

    • Public blog inventory currently shows 16 visible articles under Style and Design.
    • Art and Artists exists as a public blog category but appears empty from the public blog index.
    • All visible article URLs returned 200 during the initial audit.
    • Highest-risk content issues found:
      • 5 Creative Ways to Incorporate Wall Art in Your Living Room contains an unrelated promotional Shopify-store link that redirects to a domain-sale page.
      • 10 Renaissance Art Prints That Elevate Any Home contains placeholder /products/{handle} links.
      • How to Make a Gallery Wall from Scratch contains a duplicated Amazon affiliate block with repeated generic search links.
      • 8 Iconic Works of Public Domain Art You Can Download for Free does not include actual public-domain source or download links despite the article premise.
      • Several gallery-wall and wall-art selection articles overlap enough to warrant consolidation.
    • Media audit follow-up found 6 current published articles with blank/null featured-image alt text and 4 broken example.com inline image URLs.

    Success Criteria

    • Every current article has a recorded disposition: keep, edit, merge, replace, delete, or unpublish.
    • No published article contains known irrelevant external promotional links, placeholder product handles, or repeated generic affiliate links.
    • Keeper articles include relevant body links in a clear sequence: source/reference links where promised, then related internal article links, then product or collection pathways.
    • Keeper articles include relevant featured images, working body images, descriptive image alt text, and no placeholder media URLs.
    • Keeper article SEO descriptions are article-specific, not generic store boilerplate.
    • Final QA confirms article URLs, intentional body links, and intentional media URLs resolve successfully or have documented exceptions.

    Milestones

    • Milestone 1: Publish the remediation map with article-level dispositions and canonical merge targets.
    • Milestone 2: Complete the emergency cleanup batch for link/content risks.
    • Milestone 3: Rewrite or consolidate the approved keeper/replacement articles.
    • Milestone 4: Run final article content/media QA and move the project to in-review for walkthrough/sign-off.

    MAGGIE TODO

    • Review docs/evidence/active/1110/agentic-layout-proof-2026-05-20/1110-agentic-blog-layout-proof-2026-05-20.pdf and provide numbered correction notes for any live article content, media, layout, rail, link, or product-link placement issue.
    • Review representative PNGs in docs/evidence/active/1110/agentic-layout-proof-2026-05-20/screenshots/, especially mobile article-guide behavior and desktop companion rail usefulness.
    • Review the tuned layout screenshots under docs/evidence/active/1110/layout-width-tuning-2026-05-20/screenshots/.
    • Expected proof: approval or numbered PDF/PNG/PR correction notes.
    • Review clears when Maggie approves the in-review package or supplies correction notes for the next apply pass.

    Checkpoint Log

    Checkpoint 01 - 2026-05-20 10:54 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Opened project 1110 for blog article content audit and remediation.
    • Captured the initial audit conclusions: 16 visible Style and Design articles, empty-looking Art and Artists category, and article-level content/link risks.
    • Created dedicated branch codex/1110-blog-content-audit-remediation.
    • Kept live Shopify article mutations out of this setup checkpoint.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Build the article disposition map with keep/edit/merge/replace/delete recommendations.
    • Identify the first approved emergency cleanup batch for spam links, placeholder links, and duplicated affiliate blocks.
    • Define canonical article targets for the gallery-wall, public-domain art, color/choosing-art, and artwork-care clusters.

    Notes

    • This project covers blog article content only. Storefront blog route design and non-article surfaces remain out of scope unless required for article-content QA.

    Checkpoint 02 - 2026-05-20 10:57 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Created the remediation map at docs/evidence/active/1110/1110-blog-remediation-map-2026-05-20.md.
    • Converted the initial audit into article-level dispositions for all 16 visible Style and Design articles.
    • Defined the emergency cleanup batch for the unrelated external promo link, placeholder /products/{handle} links, duplicated Amazon affiliate block, public-domain source mismatch, and duplicate gallery-wall surfaces.
    • Kept live Shopify article mutations approval-gated.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Draft the first cleanup package as review-ready markdown before live Shopify edits.
    • Prepare canonical article outlines for gallery-wall, public-domain art, color/choosing-art, and artwork-care pillars.
    • Build a link replacement table for 10 Renaissance Art Prints That Elevate Any Home.

    Notes

    • The remediation map treats HTTP 200 link checks as insufficient when the target is semantically wrong, such as placeholder product handles returning a generic fallback page.

    Checkpoint 03 - 2026-05-20 11:10 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Created the first cleanup package at docs/evidence/active/1110/1110-first-cleanup-package-2026-05-20.md.
    • Split the first cleanup package into explicit approval IDs 1110-A1 through 1110-A5.
    • Included the .myshopify.com promotional-link article as the first recommended unpublish/delete decision.
    • Documented approval checkboxes, proposed live apply order, and "Do Not Apply Yet" boundaries.
    • Kept live Shopify article mutations out of this checkpoint.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Collect Maggie approval selections for 1110-A1 through 1110-A5.
    • Convert approved items into exact Shopify article body edits, unpublish/delete instructions, or replacement drafts.
    • Run public article and body-link QA after approved live actions are complete.

    Notes

    • The first cleanup package is intentionally review-ready, not apply-ready; it becomes apply-ready only after Maggie chooses the live action for each approval item.

    Checkpoint 04 - 2026-05-20 11:15 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Applied approved Shopify Admin cleanup for 1110-A1, 1110-A2, and 1110-A3.
    • Deleted 5 Creative Ways to Incorporate Wall Art in Your Living Room, removing the unsafe .myshopify.com promotional-link article from Shopify Admin.
    • Unpublished 10 Renaissance Art Prints That Elevate Any Home pending a source/product-backed rebuild.
    • Removed the duplicated generic Amazon affiliate block from How to Make a Gallery Wall from Scratch while keeping the article published.
    • Captured live apply evidence under docs/evidence/active/1110/live-apply-2026-05-20/.
    • Added a source-backed replacement plan for the public-domain article.
    • Added a narrow blog/article cache revalidation code fix so future articles/* and blogs/* webhooks can revalidate the shop cache tag.
    • Added unit coverage for the article/blog webhook revalidation path.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Draft the full replacement article body for 8 Iconic Works of Public Domain Art You Can Download for Free.
    • Draft the canonical gallery-wall merge plan and identify any duplicate articles to delete/unpublish after merge.
    • Deploy or otherwise promote the blog/article cache revalidation fix before relying on public URL verification for article cleanup.

    Notes

    • Admin verification passed for the applied cleanup, but public headless URLs may remain stale until the cache revalidation fix is deployed or cache expires.

    Checkpoint 05 - 2026-05-20 11:33 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Created the source-backed replacement draft for 8 Iconic Works of Public Domain Art You Can Download for Free at docs/evidence/active/1110/1110-public-domain-replacement-draft-2026-05-20.md.
    • Restricted the public-domain article draft to source-first museum/open-access links and kept commerce links secondary.
    • Excluded Amazon affiliate links from the public-domain replacement draft because the reader intent is source verification and download, not supplies.
    • Created the gallery-wall consolidation plan at docs/evidence/active/1110/1110-gallery-wall-consolidation-plan-2026-05-20.md.
    • Recommended How to Create the Perfect Gallery Wall as the canonical gallery-wall URL and identified three published duplicates for delete/unpublish after canonical replacement is approved and live.
    • Attempted read-only Shopify Admin product search for exact product link matching, but the current CLI auth lacks product-read scope; no product/catalog mutation was performed.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Review and approve or revise the 1110-A4 source-backed article replacement draft.
    • Review and approve or revise the 1110-A5 gallery-wall canonical replacement body and duplicate article disposition list.
    • If approved, apply 1110-A4 and 1110-A5 through Shopify Admin GraphQL, then verify Admin state and public cache behavior.

    Notes

    • Live application of these drafts is intentionally blocked because it would replace one published article and remove multiple published duplicate articles.

    Checkpoint 06 - 2026-05-20 11:37 ET (America/New_York)

    Completed Since Prior Checkpoint

    • Refreshed the current Shopify Admin article inventory at docs/evidence/active/1110/live-apply-2026-05-20/current-admin-article-inventory.json.
    • Confirmed the current Admin inventory query returned 100 articles: 14 published and 86 unpublished.
    • Created the second cleanup package at docs/evidence/active/1110/1110-second-cleanup-package-2026-05-20.md.
    • Grouped remaining published articles into public-domain, gallery-wall, color/choosing-art, care/hanging, small-space, budget-art, and vintage-anatomy cleanup decisions.
    • Kept the second package review-only; no additional live Shopify article mutation was performed.

    Next Checkpoint Targets

    • Review the second cleanup package and approve exact live actions by cleanup ID.
    • If approved, apply the source-backed public-domain replacement and gallery-wall consolidati
